This was taken during the recording of Stanley Clarke's album "Rock, Pebbles & Sand" at Randy Bachman's studio in Bellingham, WA. Dennis Mackay got a great sound and it's a pretty cool album.

Sound check at the 'Live under the Sky" festival in Tokyo, July 1980 - Charles "Icarus" Johnson on guitar, Steve Back on keyboards. The kit was a Tama Superstar in Blue Aqua Marine. All I remember was that is was unbelievably hot and humid - great concert though!

Barnet, UK 1981 in my little house with my first Ludwig kit (ca. 1974) which I had stripped off the Black Leatherette finish down to the wood shells. I seem to remember I had a fiberglass coating added to the inside of the shells - for whatever reason!

This is one of my favorite shots - taken by Bob Graham, my drum tech, at the Hammersmith Odeon during sound check on the Toyah Wilcox UK tour in 1982. This is the old Fiberstar kit with 8 octobans - "There & Back" era.
