Simon is going to release a DVD called "Vantage Point - Resolution". The DVD-Video contains a variety of audio/video media including: complete session videos, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage, rehearsals. Simon Phillips will be part of the "Baked Potato Allstars" which play at the famous club on February 19th. His companions will be Jimmy Hasslip (bass), Mitch Forman (keys) and Jeff Richmann (guitar).

After returning back home from his clinic tour in Europe, Simon only has a short time off before going back on the road with TOTO. After two years Simon finally got the time to do another clinic tour. From October 8th to October 25th he will come to several European Countries including Germany, Netherlands and even Russia. Check out the complete schedule on the Tour dates section.

While being on tour with TOTO Simon took some time to answer a whole bunch of new question. Check out his answers in the Masterclass Section.

After a short break TOTO is back on tour. With a complete new and fresh setlist the band will perform all over Europe throughout June and July 2004. After another break the band will return to Europe again in August.

TOTO will do a 10 dates Tour in Mexico. They are one of the first rockbands doing such a big tour through the whole Country.

Finally, after about 3 months Simon has fully recovered from his recent illness. He is very happy to be back in the saddle again and he is looking forward to the TOTO dates in South-East-Asia, Souh America, Mexico and Hawaii.

After his illness Simon has almost fully recovered already and will most definately play the concerts with TOTO in February in Asia and South America. We will soon update the FAQ with new answers of Simon to your questions.

Simon wants to thank everyone who has sent in "Get Well Messages" by mail and in the guestbook. He also wants to wish everyone a merry christmas and a happy new year and he can´t wait to be back in the saddle again.

Due to a recent illness Simon has been advised by his doctors not to tour for the rest of the year. He will be back for the TOTO 2004 shows in full force. Toto are pleased to announce that Ricky Lawson (Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Steely Dan) will be on the drums for the remaining Night of the Proms shows.

Jon Farriss of INXS has agreed to undertake the daunting task of filling Simons` role as TOTO drummer for four Night Of The Proms shows (including last night's).
Simon has been taken ill during the tour and TOTO approached Jon to fill the void to allow Simon some recuperation time. Jon rehearsed the five-song TOTO set alone on Wednesday before completing a full soundcheck with the band early on Thursday afternoon.

A lot of fans have already written in and have asked why Simons won´t be included on the DVD. So here´s a statement from Simon himself:

That's nice to know that it will be missed. This was a decision that we had to make. Upon listening I didn't feel that it was a special solo and Luke also felt his solo was not the best either. We had cut some things out as we needed to get the program down to 143 mins for the purpose of TV special broadcasts that we are anticipating for the DVD.
I felt it better that the DVD showcase the band as a whole rather than individual solos. We even cut Dave's solo down so that his only featured Dune and Don't Stop Me Now.
There is always a compromise when producing these things.
However - it is on film and, you never know, one day we may release something with these on.

After almost 4 weeks of rehearsals, Simon is back on tour with TOTO for the 25th band anniversary world tour which starts tomorrow in Brussels/Belgium. Planet X featuring Derek Sherinian, Tony MacAlpine and Virgil Donati begin recording their 2nd band release May 7th at Simons' Coy Sound Studios. Simon will also mix the Album.

A short note from Simon about the "Doves of fire" gig in L.A. on Saturday, April 28th. They closed the "baked potato" as the owner of the club is selling it. The band had a wonderful show - great attendance.

The second show was yesterday in Aschaffenburg/Germany in a venue called "Colos-Saal" and the place was packed. The whole band was very pleased by the great response of the fans and they enjoyed the shows very much. Simon and Steve Lukather have put a new jam band together called "Doves of Fire" with Jeff Babko (keyboards) and Melvin Davis (bass). They're playing all Mahavishnu — Billy Cobham — Jeff Beck 70's fusion music. It's "just for fun" as Luke put it. Their first gig will be Jan 6th 2001 at the Hollywood Baked Potato.
